A picture is worth a thousand words – and in the plastic surgery industry, you’re only as good as your last facelift or breast augmentation case.
If your plastic surgery practice were a retail store, your online photo gallery would be your front window display. The before and after pictures you post on your website are one of the best ways for visitors to get an idea of what you can do for them. And more so, your pictures give them an idea of the new face or body they can have for themselves.
For our clients, the photo gallery is the second most visited area of their website. Because of this, it’s important to be very aware of the impression you’re making with your before and after pictures.
Here are 4 things to pay attention to in your online photo gallery:
1. Quality – the quality of the picture is almost as important as the quality of the results. If your pictures are 10+ years old or are lower quality (e.g. low resolution), consider retiring those pictures and replacing them with more recent ones
2. Quantity – make sure you have a sufficient number and variety of patients (age/body type) to give visitors confidence you have done this procedure many, many times before.
3. Consistency – be sure the before and after look well-matched. The patient should be photographed with proper lighting and their face or body is the same in both pictures so patients can easily compare the changes for themselves. Inconsistencies create confusion and distract from your results.
4. Comprehensive – every procedure or treatment you offer should be well-represented in your online gallery. If you are starting to build your gallery, insert manufacturer photos until you have your own. If you don’t have pictures of a treatment or procedure you leave your visitor wondering…why?
Step one for you is to create great results from your work. Step two is to capture those results with high quality pictures. Step three is to constantly be adding and updating your photo gallery. Allow your high quality pictures and excellent results to attract more patients to your practice.
