Iconography 101

Along with the redesign of the Etna blog, graphics were needed to represent abstract topics from Google SEO to online product launches. Instead of using an assortment of stock photography, flat icon or symbol graphics similar to those used elsewhere on the site were opted for.

From direct, text driven graphics to metaphors and playful interpretations, I made custom icons for each of the numerous blog posts unified by color palette and flat geometric style.

Tasks like these are some of my favorite, bridging iconography, illustration, and symbol design. Looking at the set live and connected to their associated posts, I’m pleased to have created custom imagery for each post to represent them and the new blog.
